After I gave up dairy in 2011, I never looked back. But I did look around, and often – at ice cream, cheesy pasta, buttery cookies and cakes. If I wanted to eat the foods I loved again, I would have to make them myself. Making dairy-free recipes has been a fun process of trial and error, and I’m always amazed that what I make tastes just as good as – if not better than – the original.
I stopped eating dairy because of severe lactose intolerance, but many people avoid dairy for other reasons: health, ethical, religious, or taste. Whether you’re lactose intolerant, vegan, paleo, kosher, or just a milk-hater, I hope you find some recipes on my site that excite you.
I live with my fiance, who has learned to love a dairy-free existence (though he does subsist on pizza and ice cream whenever I go out of town). After nine years in NYC, I just moved to my hometown of Boston to start graduate school.
